Rainbow Girls Room Makeover

This Rainbow Girls Bedroom Makeover is the second room Curated Casa completed in a whirlwind weekend back in April. Check out the Chic Color Block Girls Bedroom Design for the first makeover we revealed. This sweet room was done for a five year old girl who requested spots in her her room for the following: reading, playing, cuddling, homework, makeup, fidget toys, and space for her LOL dolls. Love a girl that knows what she wants!

It was important that the two girls had spaces that reflected their unique personalities, however, we also wanted to to keep some common elements through color and texture. First thing first, the walls got a fresh coat of paint to brighten the space up and give a nice clean base for the rainbow painting we were about to attempt. The rainbow, thanks to Whitney’s husband, Jorge, was spaced evenly on the back wall with a nifty little tool he made with a nail, pencil, and a long cardboard tube. (That’s the best description I can give about that.) After some pain-staking painting in the lines, we had our rainbow!

We made a custom desk for little 5 year old legs with two small night tables and a table top from Ikea. In a few years, 6 inch hairpin legs can be added to the bottom of the desk easily to enable it to grow with her. We added a fun mirror and storage for makeup and drawing supplies. The pom pom mirror was a Target find. So cute. We took the mirror to the paint counter and matched the colors for the rainbow to tie in the color palette – and that had to be right on a bright white background. The rug is washable – perfect to withstand make-up, paint, and a new dog!

Final touches were a cloud shelf at each end of the rainbow to hold a book or glass of water, a tented reading nook, a custom faux-Roman shade (to hide the pull down shades during the day), and a set of book shelves to hold a good handful of books for the week.

So that’s room two of three. The next, to be posted soon is a vintage sport haven for a 10 year old boy.
