The last of the three kid’s rooms- this space is for an 11 year old boy that told his mom emphatically “no more superhero sheets!”
Our client’s son loves sports- baseball, football, and in particular snow skiing. We wanted the room to reflect his interests, but also to have the feel of a room that could be mature enough for him to keep through high school. The big “wow” moment for this room is a wall-sized mural Meredith dreamed up- it is the trail map from the mountain the family skis on every winter. A custom ordered wallpaper style mural covers the entire wall behind the bed.

The other walls were painted a deep navy, and the colors from the trail map were pulled into bedding and locker-style shelving. He wanted to make sure he still had a place to display his trophies and medals- what can feel like clutter in a kid’s room can also be used as decor!

He had been using a cardboard box as a makeshift desk for his laptop- and while we appreciate the ingenuity, it was time for him to have a proper workspace. A Target desk found on sale paired with a leather desk chair was the setup he needed.
Sconce lights were installed directly onto the mural to free up space on the bedside tables and still provide reading light.
Vintage skis hung with a cut up belt we found at a thrift store lend a little interest and charm to the theme. It is possible to do a “theme” room that feels cool and interesting without being cheesy!
